The Ixgara community is part of the Morgan Bay greater community situated in a remote area of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. Electricity is in very short supply and these children are often left to play inside in the dark with no way of heating their food apart from building a dangerous cooking fire. Our dream is to work with the community to create a wonderful sustainable and energy efficient building, with special focus on lighting, heating and cooking.

Balunu – Healing for Indigenous Youth

The Balunu Foundation is a Darwin-based charity that delivers cultural healing programs to at-risk youth and families in the Northern Territory. It costs us more than $15,000 a year in diesel fuel and generator maintenance to supply electricity to our camps. By switching to solar power and batteries, we can use the money saved to grow our program, which aims to reduce youth suicide in our region.
